A Busy Mind is written for a small string orchestra. As one who is constantly hearing music, both audibly and mentally, the world can seem very loud. Even in quiet moments to most, the silence is filled with rhythms and pitches from my constant search for compositional ideas. It is not as simple as not thinking about these melodies, nor as simple to clear my head. It is like a intense motivation to finish a project, it simply cannot be quiet until these ideas are explored and expanded upon. This piece serves to represent a small quality of that aspect of constantly hearing noise, while constantly also trying to search for the next main idea.
