Ritual was my first major work that is almost the instrumentation of some sort of woodwind quartet, but with Horn and Cello as the mid to low voices. First premiered during the 2018 First Glimpse Concert at Stetson University, it has each player introduce their own individual melodic idea. Between each idea are dissonant chorales that resemble shells of the melodic ideas being played all together. The chorale and individual solo sections act like steps to a ritual, leading up to the final stage of the ritual where all the solo lines play together in a dissonant and almost vulgar combination.
