The theme is built with two different motivic ideas that are then explored separately in their own sections throughout the piece. The first contrasting section takes the beginning half of the theme and creates driving groove. The second idea then uses elements of the other half of the theme, expressing a more tonally-dense lyrical section. The theme returns several times and each time it undergoes development and transformation. The rondo closes with a slower, more dramatic and weighted version of the original melody.
